Guest presenters taking centre stage included former England and Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair, former England and West Ham United striker Bobby Zamora and former West Ham United and Charlton manager Alan Curbishley.
The highlight of the event was an award ceremony to induct supporters, patrons and sponsors of Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) into the Hall of Fame under five different categories.
1. ‘Football Clubs & Managers’, with Arsene Wenger OBE received an award.
2. ‘Current & former professional footballers’ - former England, Wales and top flight club players had their contributions recognised.
3. 'Commitment to Education', SRtRC honoured councils and education charities across the country.
4. 'Contribution of Trade Unions' were recognised with awards for a number of regions and national unions.
5. 'Campaign supporters' - individual contributions of a number of key individuals were highlighted.
Among the guests at the ceremony were Gordon Taylor OBE, Chief Executive of the Professional Footballers Association, Shadow Secretary of State for International Development Kate Osamor MP and Arsenal FC Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis.
Tim Roache, GMB General Secretary, said:
"GMB never has and never will shy away from challenging xenophobia, racism and discrimination.
"With the rise in hate crime post-Brexit vote, this is a crucial time to stand together and show we will never let racism win the day.
“I am incredibly proud that GMB sponsors Show Racism the Red Card and to support the work they do each and every day to engage and educate.
"Standing up, speaking out and refusing to accept racism as a part of the beautiful game makes our friends being honoured today important role models off the pitch as well with a ball at their feet."
Ged Grebby, Show Racism the Red Card chief Executive, said:
"This event is an opportunity to celebrate 20 years of anti-racism education & campaigning, and a chance to recognise the invaluable contributions of many individuals to Show Racism the Red Card.”
"The Hall of Fame is a way of thanking some of our key supporters, patrons and sponsors for all the time they have given to the charity over many years."
“This is Show Racism the Red Card's 4th Hall of Fame event in the charity’s 20 year History and we are delighted to be returning to the Speaker's Residence at the invitation of Rt. Hon. John Bercow MP for this year's ceremony, having held the 3rd Hall of Fame ceremony in the same venue three years ago."
