GMB CALLS FOR GENERAL ELECTION AFTER MAY'S BREXIT DEAL THRASHED IN PARLIAMENT
I saw Laurel and Hardy on Sunday, so to quote an old favourite ‘that’s another fine mess you’ve gotten us into’ Prime Minister says GMB Union
GMB, Britain's general union, has called for a general election after the Prime Minister's Brexit deal was thrashed in Parliament.
Theresa May's withdrawal agreement was defeated by 230 votes this evening - after which Labour tabled a vote of no confidence.
Tim Roache, GMB General Secretary said:
“I saw Laurel and Hardy on Sunday, so to quote an old favourite ‘that’s another fine mess you’ve gotten us into’ Prime Minister.
"I’ll say again, my door is always open but this deal - which is a bad deal for workers - is dead in the water.
"It's now time for a General Election, which must be an election not just on Brexit but how we fix a broken system that led people to cast a Leave vote in the first place.”
