GMB Protest Demo In Portsmouth If Trustees Of John Tompson Trust Fail To Act In Case Of GMB Member Bullied Out Of Her Job And Locked Out Of Her Home
GMB is calling on the Trustees of John Thompson Trust to suspend manager Pam Green while it investigates a clear case of bullying and harassment.
GMB is calling on the Trustees of John Thompson Trust in Portsmouth to suspend manager Pam Green while it investigates a clear case of bullying and harassment of a GMB member employed by the Trust. The Trust is an organisation which provides residential care for elderly people who live in their own homes.
Pam Green is accused of bullying and harassment a member of staff Sandra Marshall who has not only been unfairly dismissed but has now been locked out of her tied accommodation by this manager.
Sandra Marshall is a GMB member. She works as a warden for the John Thompson Trust in Portsmouth. She has worked for the Trust for 17 years and lives on site in a flat. Sandra was dismissed for doing shopping for the residents. Her contract of employment states this is part of her role as the warden. She has done this for 17 years up until the 12th June 2013 when she was dismissed.
GMB is planning a protest demonstration outside the Trust property if the Trustees fail to act to give back the keys of the property to Sandra.
Anne Chandler, GMB Regional Officer said “A new manager Pam Green came in to the John Thompson Trust about nine months ago. Since then the majority of the existing staff have either left or been dismissed from their employment.
GMB submitted on Sandra's behalf a grievance as she had been bullied by the manager. GMB also submitted an appeal against her dismissal?
The member was told that the hearings would be on the day she went on leave for her annual holiday, pre-planned many months before to China.
Both were heard in her absence and upheld.
As a result Sandra has now been dismissed. The reason was she was dismissed is for doing shopping for the residents. Her contract of employment states this is part of her role as the Warden. She has done this for 17 years up until the 12th June 2013 when she was dismissed.
As a result of her dismissal she was told that she had to leave her property by the 21st June 2013. The member has not done this. Unfortunately the member lost her keys on the grass and they were picked up and handed in.
The manager, Pam Green has refused to return the keys and says she can only have limited access for 20 minutes. The member is now locked out of her home and is homeless. She is 67 years old and needs access to her property for her medication and obvious stuff.
No eviction order has been served on the member to leave the property. There is a letter from the Trustee's advising the member can stay in the property upon retirement.
This is a severe case of bullying and harassment which GMB will not allow to stand. GMB is calling on the Trustees of John Thompson Trust to suspend manager Pam Green while it investigates a clear case of bullying and harassment.”
