GMB Sponsor ‘Hope For Christmas’ Paul Heaton And Jacqui Abbott Concert On 12th December At Manchester Academy 2
Funds raised by the event will be donated to two local food banks, Porch Boxes in Bury and Urban Outreach in Bolton says GMB.
GMB North West & Irish Region is proud to sponsor, for the second year, “Hope for Christmas II” at Manchester Academy 2 with Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott on Saturday 12th December. See notes to editors for ticket details.
Paul McCarthy, GMB North West and Irish Regional Secretary, said, “The Hope for Christmas message is in line with the GMB North West & Irish Region’s position on the sorry state the nation under this Tory government that sees thousands of families having to rely on food banks.
GMB North West & Irish Region is honoured to support this event. We are saddened that musicians and trade unionists have to organise such events to ensure that people, forced into ever worsening poverty, can eat this Christmas. GMB is proud to stand together with two great artists based in the North West and our colleagues at anti-racism organisation Hope not Hate.
All those attending are encouraged to bring a donation of appropriate food and toiletries. We are encouraging GMB members who cannot attend the gig to help local food banks and to suggest that their local GMB Branches to donate wherever possible.
GMB will allocate the donations from the event to two local food banks, Porch Boxes in Bury and Urban Outreach in Bolton.”
