Staff are sick and tired of bullying and victimisation at the hands of Monier Redland Management and are saying enough is enough says GMB
GMB began a one week strike today (Monday 4th July, 2016) following the dismissal of a GMB representative from a Monier Redland site in Wigan. The convener was dismissed by the company following a collision with a parked car that should not have been there.
The company originally attempted to force redundancy on the convenor towards the end of last year without explanation, but after intervention from GMB he returned to work four weeks later.
Monier Redland manufactures concrete, slate and clay roofing tiles for building sites and operates in 36 countries at over 100 production sites.
GMB members will strike between Monday, 4th July and Friday, 8th July 2016 at the address as follows:
Monier Redland LTD
George Patterson, GMB regional organiser, said “This convenor has been victimised for no other reason than representing disenchanted GMB members and challenging the management’s health and safety practices.
The company, who are obviously anti-union, has attempted to undermine the pending strike action all week and are again trying to offer a settlement to the convenor as it is obvious they are not confident in defending the dismissal at a tribunal.
GMB members are sick and tired of bullying and victimisation at the hands of Monier Redland Management and are saying enough is enough.”
