GMB Support NHS On Monday 23 March At Dudley Hospital Facing Cuts Of £18 Million Next Year
Even hospital bosses have said that in these circumstances NHS providers "can no longer guarantee safe and sustainable care” says GMB.
GMB, the union for staff in the NHS, is supporting an event taking place on Monday afternoon (23rd March) when Labour Party Shadow Health Secretary will be visiting Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
GMB members will meet outside the main entrance of the hospital at 1.30pm where Andy Burnham will then join them for a rally and photo in Dudley, West Midlands DY1 2HQ
Stephanie Peacock, GMB Political Officer Birmingham & West Midlands Region, said “ Members are aware that Russells Hall has already announced that one in ten of the hospital’s 4,200 staff will lose their jobs as a result of government rules that cut spending by £12 million every year.
These are excessive efficiency requirements which are is placing care at risk, forcing the hospital to cut spending by up to £18 million next year. Even hospital bosses have said that in these circumstances NHS providers "can no longer guarantee safe and sustainable care."
We are calling on the public to show support for the hospital and oppose Tory cuts.
The Tories are planning the most draconian cuts in services that we rely on for a civilised way of life.
If the Tories are re-elected people would have more chance of winning the lottery than seeing police patrolling their streets or seeing waiting lists in the NHS coming down.”
