GMB Welcome Pay Rise To £10 An Hour For Museum Security Staff

This is a great result for GMB members working at the Natural History Museum says GMB.

GMB, the union for staff in the private security industry, has welcomed a move from security and logistics company Wilson James to pay security staff working at the Natural History Museum a minimum rate of £10.02 an hour.

GMB has been in negotiations with Wilson James to raise the minimum rate of pay for all Security staff at the museum and this 28p per hour pay rise brings security staff at the museum to over GMB’s £10 an hour living wage.

GMB’s #£10now campaign calls for employers to pay a real living wage of £10 an hour to all workers regardless of age. GMB considers this to be the threshold at which UK workers are able to live comfortable lives free from benefits and tax credits.

Warren Kenny, GMB senior organiser, said “This is a great result for GMB members working at the Natural History Museum where security guards will now be getting paid £10.02 per hour.

GMB is proud to have negotiated with Wilson James to pay at least £10 per hour that our members make clear is needed to have a decent life free from benefits and tax credits.”
