GMB worked hard and in good faith to give detailed response to this consultation only to have efforts treated with contempt.
GMB, the UK’s general union, has criticised the Government for completely ignoring all responses to its new trade white paper.
Liam Fox’s paper, released on the eve of the next round of Brexit talks which begin today, exposes the Conservative’s obsession with deregulation and failed neoliberal proposals that will give the UK even less control over its future than when it was in the European Union.
GMB, along with many other organisations, worked hard to give a detailed response to the paper ahead of its publication.
However the paper that was eventually published is exactly the same as the draft dished out for responses – suggesting all submissions were completely ignored or disregarded.
Kathleen WalkerShaw, GMB European Officer, said:
“GMB worked hard and in good faith to give detailed response to this consultation only to have efforts treated with contempt and ignored.
“Clearly, nobody has taken a blind bit of notice of all the submissions.
“This further exposes government which keeps telling the public it is listening but is doing no such thing.
“Government needs to stop wasting our time.
“If they aren't going to take our opinion seriously then stop the farce of these sham consultations and let us get on with focusing our resources on protecting and defending our members from the havoc and chaos they are creating across the economy and country as a whole "
