GMB Hopeful Of Reducing Impact Of Job Losses At McBride Bradford Site
After lengthy meaningful consultation, GMB is confident that we will be able to reduce the number of job losses first feared says GMB.
McBride the household cleaning and toiletry products maker is to cut 400 UK jobs. McBride has factories in Hull, Barrow, Bradford and Middleton and is in talks with GMB talks over redundancies.
The GMB delegation was pleased with the progress made at yesterday’s meeting with the management from McBride's Bradford and will continue discussions today. GMB is confident 82 proposed redundancies site which currently employs 345 people.
The GMB Organiser for the Middleton site is hopeful of that the impact there will limited be some changes that may impact on working practices and discussions will take place over the next few months.
McBride’s make everything from toothpastes to toilet cleaners. McBride have said none of the four UK sites would close completely, although the Hull and Barrow factories are expected to be the most heavily affected.
The Hull site currently makes household liquid and aerosol products, while the Barrow plant makes laundry powders and tablets as well as dishwasher products.
