GMB Members To Strike At VIP Polymers Huntingdon On Monday 3rd June In Dispute Over Cuts In Pay And Conditions
Strike action is a last resort, but there is now no other course of action open other than for the loyal staff at VIP Polymer's to withdraw their labour says GMB
GMB members at VIP Polymers in St Peter’s Road, Huntingdon are taking strike action on Monday 3rdJune in a dispute over cuts to pay and conditions of employment. This first day of strike action will be a 24 hour stoppage.
In April these GMB members were told by the company that they face a 10% pay cut and a severe erosion in their terms and condition of employment and that if they do not accept these cuts that they will be sacked. They were given permission for an official strike ballot and they voted in favour of strike action to resist these cuts.
VIP Polymers make rubber seals used in the waste and drainage industries.
Alan Costello GMB Organiser said, “Loyal GMB members who have already suffered redundancies and short time working voted for industrial action to resist these new cuts to pay and conditions. Quite frankly, given all that theses members have already suffered this is now a cut too far and they can literally take no more.
The Company management is still refusing to talk to either GMB or the staff.
Staff can be patient no longer. Strike action is a last resort, but there is now no other course of action open to other than for the loyal staff at VIP Polymer's to withdraw their labour.
Loyal workers who have carried the company through good times and bad do not deserve to be treated like this.”
