GMB Members Employed On North Norfolk Refuse Contract To Take Industrial Action Over Pay

All our members are asking for is a fair wage for the hard work and endeavour they provide for the residents and businesses of North Norfolk says GMB.

GMB members working as refuse drivers and loaders in North Norfolk have voted to take industrial action on the 21st June 2016. The action will take the form of a total ban on overtime from 7am on Tuesday, 21st June 2016.

GMB members employed on a refuse contract for Aylsham and Fakenham rejected a 2% pay increase over 2 years and have decided to take industrial action in support of their claim for a £10.00 an hour Living Wage. Of the 36 members balloted, over 85% voted in favour of the overtime ban.

Glenn Holdom, GMB regional officer, said "GMB members employed on this contract offer the general public a valuable service for little more than the government’s national living wage of £7.20 an hour.

All our members are asking for is a fair wage for the hard work and endeavour they provide for the residents and businesses of North Norfolk.”
