2.6% Pay Rise On 1st Jan 2014 For 3,200 Workers At JCB After Vote By GMB Members To Accept New Three Year Pay Deal
This year's team of negotiators for the group has achieved an excellent outcome under some very tough bargaining conditions says GMB.
Pay rates for GMB members employed at JCB increase by 2.6% from 1st Jan 2014. This is after GMB members voted to accept a new 3 year pay deal covering 3,200 workers at JCB sites in Rocester, Uttoxeter, Cheadle, Rugeley, Wrexham and Foston, Derbyshire.
The pay increase is linked to November 2013 Retail Price Index (RPI) which was announced this week. Pay increases in 2015 and 2016 will also be linked to the respective November RPI figures in those years.
The new deal follows the three-and-a-half-year pay deal agreed in 2010 which expires on December 31 2013.
Gordon Richardson, GMB Convenor and Central Executive Council member, said “The deal offers stability for JCB workers. A three-year pay deal does give members some guarantees for the future. This year's team of GMB negotiators for the group has achieved an excellent outcome under some very tough bargaining conditions. The deal compares very favourably to those being struck at other companies both regionally and in the UK.
Our members have worked very hard over the term of the last deal and the outcome of the latest negotiations is a reflection on their efforts."
