Historic Stoke-On-Trent Pottery Firm Goes Into Administration
We are currently in talks with our members and will do everything we can to support them says GMB
GMB, the union for workers in the manufacturing industry, commented on the news that historic pottery manufacturer Hudson and Middleton has gone into administration.
The company was founded in 1941 manufactured a range of products made from bone china.
Samantha Warburton, GMB regional organiser, said "This is shocking news for the pottery industry and especially for those that work there. Some employees have worked there for over 20 years so will find it hard to find alternative work. After speaking with the company they have informed me that they have made everyone redundant with immediate effect.
We are currently in talks with our members and will do everything we can to support them. We will be setting up a workshop so members can learn new skills and to help them get back into work.”
