GMB, the union for workers in Remploy, commented on the confirmation that Rempower Ltd is the successful bidder of the trading assets of Remploy Automotive with factories in Birmingham, Coventry and Derby. See notes to editors for copy of the press release from Rempower Ltd.

REMPOWER LTD TO TAKEOVER REMPLOY AUTOMOTIVE
Rempower Ltd was today confirmed, as the successful bidder of the trading assets of Remploy Automotive
Coventry, 13 December 2013. Automotive and aerospace supply chain business Rempower Ltd, owned by Arlington Industries Group, is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to purchase the Remploy Automotive business, operating across three sites in Coventry, Birmingham and Derby; employing 217 people, 179 of whom have disabilities.
Remploy Automotive is currently part of the Remploy Group, an initiative sponsored by the UK Government's Department of Work and Pensions to provide on-going sustainable employment for disabled people. However, government funding for all Remploy factories will cease this year.

Remploy Automotive will become part of a stable of companies that supply both UK and global aerospace and automotive customers.
Rempower Ltdrecognises Remploy Automotive’s highly trained and experienced workforce. An apprenticeship scheme is one of the initiatives that the Group will implement to ensure that the workforce continues to grow and that current high standards are maintained.
Professor Kevin Morley, incoming Chairman of Rempower Ltd, the Group’s automotive division, said: “Our Group has the ability to help Remploy Automotive thrive, and I am delighted that the company’s highly skilled employees will continue to provide services to the automotive industry. As well as employing disabled personnel, we have a strategy in place to offer the young and ex-military personnel the opportunity to build long-term careers in the automotive components sector, through our new apprenticeship scheme.”
Remploy Automotive has the resources and trained personnel to manage a range of automotive projects - from assembling the smallest components to complete system modules delivered to schedule to Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs of automobiles, construction machinery and special vehicle manufacturers.
Products and services offered by Remploy Automotive cover: assembly and testing; aftermarket kitting and packing and nylon tube forming for vents and breathing tubes.
