Unions set to get round table with Amazon and Domino’s Pizza packaging company after bosses offer fresh talks.
Christmas present chaos may yet be averted after packaging company bosses agreed to talks with GMB and Unite.
Union members in corrugated packaging were ready to ban overtime tomorrow and then strike on Cyber Monday over pay.
They had told customers of major retailers to expect their festive purchases to be thrown into chaos.
But now the company bosses have agreed to fresh talks in December.
Around 3,000 workers are affected across six sites:
DS Smith Devizes (Wiltshire)
DS Smith Clay Cross (Chesterfield)
DS Smith Livingston (Scotland)
Saica Newport (Wales)
Saica Peterlee (Northumberland)
Smurfit Kappa (West Auckland)
Stuart Fegan, GMB National Officer said:
“GMB and Unite have suspended the strike action following an offer of fresh talks, which employers sent to us yesterday.
“The talks are set to talk place on December 1.
“This is the first step in what we hope will be an amicable resolution to the dispute.”
