Second Day Of Strike Action On July 22 By GMB Refuse Staff In West Wiltshire In Pay Dispute
The company has asked for a meeting on Wednesday and if a good enough offer is made then we will be able to call off strike action if the members vote to accept says GMB.
GMB has given notice to FCC Environment Services Ltd that members will take second day of strike action on 22nd July, followed by an overtime ban running from 23rd July until 20th August inclusive in a dispute over pay.
This follows a one day strike action on 8th July and an overtime ban that ran from the 9th July to the 14th July inclusive.
FCC Environment Services UK Ltd has a £2.2m per annum contract to operate the waste and recycling service in West Wiltshire covering the towns of Bradford on Avon, Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury and the surrounding rural areas.
Carole Vallelly, GMB Regional Officer, said “I have notified FCC Environment Services Ltd of our intention to take another days strike action on 22nd July, followed by an overtime ban running from 23rd July until 20th August inclusive.in a dispute over pay
The company have asked for a meeting on Wednesday 17th July. We will have a meeting of the members on Thursday morning. Obviously if an offer is on the table we will be able to call off strike action if the members vote to accept. However the last time the company asked for a meeting was merely to tell us again that there would be no offer, so we're keeping our options open.
The strike next Thursday and the overtime ban is the next step in this dispute. The members are very solid in support of action. At a meeting on Friday 12th July we discussed a wave of action over the summer until we get a satisfactory offer”.
