GMB Members At Sherwood Hospital Trust To Strike, Work To Rule And Ban Overtime In Dispute Over 2nd Pay Cut In 30 Months
GMB believes that resolving this dispute is simple and hopes that the Trust will recognise this and abandon the pay cuts
GMB members working as admin and clerical staff at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have voted in an official ballot for a day’s strike action each month starting on 27th August, to ‘work to rule’ and for ‘an indefinite overtime ban’ in a dispute over a pay cut in the form of down-banding for a second time in 30 months.
Harry Harrison GMB Organiser said, “The ‘overtime ban’ and ‘work to rule’ will take the form of members adhering strictly to their ‘start’ and ‘finish’ times as per their contracts and taking all of their breaks. GMB members work many hours in their own time and under extreme pressures from managers in order to meet in achievable targets so this will have a major effect on the Trust’s performance.
The Trust has been given 12 months to sort out the problems highlighted by the Keogh review.
This comes at a time when staff morale is at an all-time low and demand at an all-time high. Continual cuts in GMB members terms and conditions is a major contributor to this low morale, as its demoralising, de-motivating and de-skilling people.
GMB believes that resolving this dispute is simple and hopes that the Trust will recognise this and abandon the pay cuts. GMB members will do all they can to help the Trust achieve the turnaround times and met the demands of the recent critical Keogh review.”
