Strike Looms As 82%GMB Members Vote For Action At Bidvest Logistics Hoddesdon Site In Pay Dispute
The company can avert this strike action by discussing the implementation of pay parity with Banbury for our members says GMB.
80 GMB members employed as LGV Drivers and Drivers mates at Hoddesdon Bidvest Logistics site have voted overwhelmingly for strike action in a dispute about pay. Dates for this strike action will be announced later.
Workers employed at Bidvest Logistics sites at Banbury, Oldham (Royton) and Larbert (Scotland) are paid significantly more than the staff at Hoddesdon.
Hoddesdon staff are seeking pay parity with at staff at Banbury.
Hoddesdon staff work on deliveries for Pret a Manger, KFC, Nando's, Zizzi and others.
Karen Lally, GMB Regional Organiser said “The company has flatly turned down our reasonable demand for pay parity with Banbury. We are not demanding more than the Banbury drivers, although there is a higher cost of living for where our members work which is mainly within the M25 and the Greater London area.
The company did offer such parity a couple of years ago. Bidvest Logistics flatly refused to follow this up by properly discussing and addressing the real issue of pay with GMB and the members at Hoddesdon. Bidvest Logistics is treating Hoddesdon colleagues like second class citizens.
The company has a chance to avert this strike action by discussing the implementation of pay parity for our members. The company have never said it cannot afford to pay, it has said it is not willing to pay. This is not acceptable.”
