GMB Members At Uni-Link Buses In Southampton Accept Two Year Deal With 2.5% Increase From 1st Oct 2014 And 2.3% From 1st Oct 2015
These members have accepted this two year deal which is inflation proof as they turned down a three year deal says GMB.
70 GMB members, based at the Eastleigh depot working on the Southampton University UNI-LINK Bus services across Southampton, have voted overwhelmingly in a workplace ballot to accept a 2.5% pay increase as the first part of a two year dealt.
The deal will see a 2.5% increase from 1 October 2014 on all rates including overtime with a further 2.3% increase from 1 October 2015 on all rates again including overtime.
This deal will also see a further increase mechanism being applied should certain inflationary levels above the offer itself impact the economy. There is a sliding scale then also applied to ensure that should inflation rise over this period then GMB members will see a further enhancement.
These members employed driving buses on routes across Southampton and surrounding areas on a contract for the University mainly for students that anybody can travel on. UNI-LINK Link is part the GO-AHEAD GROUP.
Adrian Baker, GMB Regional Organiser, said “These members at UNI-LINK Southampton have accepted this two year deal which is inflation proof.
The members were initially offered a three year pay deal which they turned down. This was it was felt by GMB stewards and members that this would see a too prolonged a period when there would be no negotiations on pay at a time that the economy on the South Coast could be showing signs of recovery and improvement.”
