GMB Midland & East Coast Region Gets Award At GMB Congress In Bournemouth
The GMB Midland & East Coast Equality Forum has been absolutely brilliant at promoting the fight for those who are sadly diagnosed with a terminal illness at work says GMB.
GMB Midland & East Coast Region received the prestigious GMB President’s Award for the “Most Inspirational Regional Equality Forum” at GMB Congress in Bournemouth today (Sunday 5th June, 2016) for their innovative campaigning around protections for the terminally ill at work and raising prostate cancer awareness.
Their vital work highlighting the poor treatment of terminally ill employees kicked off the nationwide, cross-union “Dying to Work” campaign that fights for increased protections and a better provisions for terminally ill workers.
GMB Midland & East Coast secretary Andy Worth received the award from Mary Turner, GMB National President, on Sunday 5th June along with other GMB award winners.
The 99th GMB Congress, comprising of 500 elected lay members and 300 visitors and guests, started today (Sunday 5th June) and runs until Thursday 9th June at Bournemouth’s International Centre. GMB Congress delegates were elected from the GMB membership to represent over 630,000 members from every part of the UK and Ireland and every sector of the economy. Congress is the supreme policy making body in GMB.
