'Uber Apology Shows What CEO’s Will Do When Bottom Line Under Threat’

Monday, September 25, 2017

That’s a start but now it’s actions not words, said the GMB boss.

GMB General secretary Tim Roache has told Labour’s Conference in Brighton Uber’s apology shows what companies will do to protect their profit margins.

He said the company must back up its words with actions after Transport for London refused the renew Uber’s licence last week.

Mr Roache gave the barnstorming speech as he seconded a motion on precarious work.

Tim Roache, GMB General Secretary, said:

“I’ve just seen this morning that the new CEO of Uber issued an apology and admitted they got it wrong.

“Isn’t it interesting what these employers will say and do when bottom line under threat?“

Well that’s a start. But now it’s actions not words.

“Actions to pay your taxes,  actions to ensure regulation and public safety.”
